THE EXPLORATEUR 2010 HOT LIST- It's been an amazing year, full of incredible travel and discoveries the world over. Here's what we find most notable... and for amazing exclusive 2011 deal previews, visit www.theexplorateurportfolio.com and get in the loop. (This way, you get access to all the pretty versions of our emails and you're guaranteed to be the first to know about everything!)

Street Dinner- The total “anti-restaurant”, otherwise known as a pop-up dining experience in a city street just rocks. You begin by purchasing your tickets and providing your mobile number while you wait for a random evening text message which reveals where you must report first for aperitifs, followed by a second text message telling you where to pick up your table. Third text directs you to the dinner site complete with an option to overnight in a local hip hotel. http://www.streetdinner.info/

Palacio Setais High Tea- It’s a positively delicious tradition, set in a positively luxurious restored palace-turned-hotel that will have you feeling quite like royalty. Sip the finest aromatic teas, the freshest juices and sample the most gorgeous pastries and savories while overlooking the stunning hills of Sintra, with Lisbon just in the distance. Afterwards, channel your inner child and run through the intricate garden mazes…so so divine. http://www.tivolipalacioseteais.com/

The Baby House, South Africa- Volunteer work is absolutely critical to us and extremely close to our heart, which is why we’re thrilled to be working with the amazingly good-hearted Justin and Cathy Foxton, a couple in Durban dedicated to nurturing abandoned babies. They work tirelessly to provide proper medical care, food, and most importantly, unconditional love- all on their own and with the help of some very generous doctors and donors. Justin also runs a program called Stop Crime, Say Hello dedicated to wiping crime off of the streets. Want to help or learn more? See how easily you can help change a child’s life- email us. info@theexplorateur.net

Power Mat- Tangled up charger cords are soooo over. We’re done with the knots, done with frantically searching for outlets at airports and certainly done with carrying 10 different wires. The Power Mat is great- wireless, portable, and works with multiple types of devices. http://www.powermat.com/

NY Cosmos- Any kid who grew up in the NY/NJ tri-state area back in the late 70’s and 80’s (especially any kid with a Portuguese soccer-fanatic father) grew up going to Cosmos games at the old Giants Stadium. This was classic soccer at its best, Pele, Beckenbauer, the list goes on- and we saw them all- live. We would wait for those Sundays all week, back when tickets were affordable and the game was in its purest form. The Cosmos are making a comeback! Team is being formed, outfits being commissioned, and they’re bringing back their retro logo. And we’ll be first in line for season tickets. http://www.nycosmos.com/

La Boca, Argentina- Speaking of soccer, this inner-urban spot in Buenos Aires, also home to the famed Boca Juniors, doesn’t get the credit it deserves. While the surrounding areas are a bit dodgy, the center of La Boca is teeming with stylish buildings boasting colorful facades, incredible shops with bargains galore, one of our favorite Italian restaurants ever (Il Matarello), and even a superb Maradonna impersonator near the taxi line. A few pesos gets you a photo with the “legend” - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Boca

"America the Edible"- Love this new book by Adam Richman. Why? Because it’s realistic, it’s fun and it’s passionate about all of the special things that happen when we explore. We eat great meals, we laugh (and sometimes cry), we discover new places, meet interesting people, & open ourselves up willingly to the unknown. To us, there’s no better definition of the word travel. It’s sort of like taking a trip with a great friend with whom you love to share adventures and gut-busting laughs, and we found ourselves mentally compiling a list of all of the places we’d love to tell him about too. Smooth read and smooth ride down the American culinary highway with a few twists and turns along the way. Well done, sir. http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=joz777cab&et=1104042588540&s=0&e=001lbEa_v3upFIDFbIkYBAXTF6MHh1mcuD6YgETZl9wMabdZ9YlucJxDpTW_URANoMg4b9VJha7k9IHS827IWJW9nSbDj64_0LeRvy4gufUuDsrjD4VUKmLcSyjdUGkE6L79ick0-HK-JUs5wTq3_1lMebvwAAxIO2MvVxa_gsx1nNV27uw-0RIrA==

Turkish Airlines Ad- As you might have surmised, we’re a tad obsessed with all things travel- including ads. And it’s pretty difficult to capture the essence of an airline in a short :60 sec snippet, but Turkish Airlines got it so right with this spot we think is brilliant. Be sure to watch to the end, it just makes us want to buy a ticket. Be sure to watch til the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vAJox4Puaw (and their newest starring Manchester United isn't bad either! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0p5FrOEaflU )

iPad- Ok, not extremely original but we have to give a shout to our absolute new favorite toy of the year. Didn’t originally want one, and now finding it impossible to live and travel without. Amazing for movies/work/email/games/design/reading/listening/ and especially for learning a new language in flight. (You can even download the Explorateur app on one) www.apple.com/ipad

Ten Thousand Villages- Buying a gift for anyone any time soon? Chances are you have the “what do I get-sies” all the time, we used to until we discovered Ten Thousand Villages has an incredible collection of absolutely unique fair-trade gifts from around the world, and work to create opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products and compelling stories to market. You get to be a star with the perfect gift while getting to feel good knowing you did something to help someone in need. http://www.tenthousandvillages.com/

HAREM ESCAPE- Marrakech, Morocco
The word harem, though rooted in the forbidden, has come to acquire a colloquial understanding relative to sanctuary…a realm dedicated to women where they can live, relax, and indulge in a haven of guiltless luxury to be spoil themselves, and be spoiled. To all of our female readers out there, if this sounds like something you can handle, then it’s your lucky day.

The Harem Escape is a concept creatively designed by renowned restaurateur Sandra Zwollo, who has called Morocco home for the past 13 years. The retreats are held at a stunning private home in Marrakech called Dar el Sadaka. which is a showpiece in its own right, resplendent with olive groves, perfumed flora, vivacious design and curious sculptures around every corner. The week-long retreats have been created to indulge women in indulgent spa and wellness pleasures including everything from massages, hammams, masks, and even yoga sessions and belly dancing performances. Not to worry, shopping and delicious dining haven’t been forgotten- in fact, guided personalized tours of the bustling souk along with fabulous organic cuisine.

As Sandra says of her motto, “No obligations, no self-consciousness, no restrictions, just lots of luxurious pampering and a healthy dose of self-indulgence to help you reach a full mental and physical cleansing.” Spa treatments included amongst a host of amenitites and activities, and they’re socially responsible as well, giving back to a local orphanage to assist disadvantaged young women. If that’s not Girl Power, we don’t know what is. http://www.harem-escape.com/

LIZARD ISLAND- Great Barrier Reef, Australia
There are many places in the world that claim to be remote, but Lizard Lodge in our eyes pretty much wins the blissful seclusion award from us. It’s in its own little world, your own personal island retreat pleasantly perched right on the Great Barrier Reef… 40 villas and suites amongst 24 powdery white beaches. Beautiful, wild, natural, and reserved for the fortunate few that decide to take the journey.

Arrive and you’ll wonder why it took so long for you to decide to go, for it provides a window to another world under the sea. It is your island here, effectively…a place to snorkel through brilliant coral reefs, deep-sea fish for marlin, or explore one of the world’s famous dive sites also known as the Cod Hole, where curious Potato Cod swim right up to inspect you with great interest. A place to enjoy secluded picnics on private beaches, fabulously indulgent spa treatments, and incredible cuisine all in casually barefoot-elegant style.

Accommodations are equally as fabulous- opt from villas, suites or even your own pavilion- all are spectacular for watching the sunset on a day bed on the balcony overlooking the water. It’s a beautiful sense of calm not easily found elsewhere, and a beautiful island world all its own. We’d list their accolades, but that would require pages and pages…so take our word for it (and everyone else), it’s worth the trip. http://www.lizardisland.com.au/

EXPLORATEUR EXCLUSIVE- Complimentary upgrade to next best available room, combinable with a fantastic “stay for 5, pay for 4” offer! Valid for travel through 31 Mar 2011…hurry, book by 20 Dec! Click HERE for more info and as always, be sure & tell 'em The Explorateur sent you!

NORTH STAR CRUISES - Australian Adventure Cruises!
There’s cruising, and then there’s Australian adventure cruising. For many, exploring this part of the world and all of it’s mysterious and magnificent treasures is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so we think it ought to be as memorable and awe-inspiring as possible. One surefire method we recommend is sailing the North Star way. Nobody knows this region, or these waters better than this experienced team of native Australians who live, breathe and share a sheer passion the destination and beyond. And, nobody delivers an immersion experience like they do.

With itineraries that will have you climbing waterfalls, diving ancient wrecks, tracking rare giant monitor lizards, helicoptering over gorges, encountering an overwhelming amount of wildlife face to face visiting the most “uncontacted” people on earth in West Papua and, it’s clear they’re several steps ahead of the rest. Ensuring all the while that they’re giving back to the lands that invite them in to explore, by supporting village schools and donating items in need. They want you to be able to do what you want, when you want and, there perhaps is no greater luxury than that whilst on holiday. http://www.northstarcruises.com.au/sailingschedule.asp?Date=2011

HOTEL DE GLACE- Quebec, Canada
Every year around springtime, the Explorateur gets a bit weepy, sort of like the way one feels at the end of the old Frosty the Snowman cartoon with Burl Ives, when "that time comes". For, it is then that we know it won't be long before one of our favorite haunts disappears, never to be recreated the same way again. But HA- we've beat the clock this time and we're all in luck, because the season is just beginning!

If you've never been to the Hotel de Glace, you're in for a real treat. It's a hotel constructed entirely of phenomenally crafted, sculptured sheets of ice. Impossible you say? Well, we thought so too at first but such a place really does exist. Each room within this magical wonderland of a complex (built with 15000 tons of snow and 500 tons of ice) are full of expressive innovation. Fab structures in the past have included a Hockey-themed suite, romantic suite for two with its own fireplace and spa, a spectacular purple-lighting-infused Gothic style bar, their famous Ice Bar where you can "cool off" with your favorite libation, and even a Gaudi-inspired suite with creative carvings in the artist's quirky style etched into the icy walls. They’re slated this year to bring back their greatest creation, a fantastic toboggan-like Grand Slide, running twists and curves throughout the property and delivering child-like euphoria to one and all. The hotel reopens in January 2011, and the last day of the season is 29 Mar...so if you want to catch it you'll have to hurry or you'll miss it. Just like a snowflake, no two versions of this unique property are ever exactly alike...but that's the fun of it!
Obvious tip: Bring MANY layers of clothing...although the temps inside are warmer than one might expect, it's still pretty chilly!

EXCLUSIVE OFFER- Special winter warmer goodie gift pack pre-departure! Click HERE for more information and as always, be sure & tell 'em The Explorateur sent you!

PUERTO VALLE HOTEL DE ESTEROS- Argentina
There are few places in the world as beautifully balanced and biodiverse as Ibera. This natural reserve deep in the center of Corrientes province is blessed with breathtaking flora, stunning lakes, 400 bird species, 111 species of fish, near-perfect temperature year-round, not to mention an abundance of adventure. It’s also home to the quaint, warm welcoming arms of Puerto Valle Hotel de Esteros.

Hop a flight from Buenos Aires to Posadas City, take a scenic 60 km drive, walk down a pathway lined with tall bamboo cane to the banks of the Parana River and there you’ll be, amongst the 6 exclusive suites whose décor reflects the surrounding natural beauty. It is pure peace personified, where spending the day lazing in a hammock taking in the ambient harmony of singing birds while breathing in the clean country air move easily to the top of your to-do list.

If you’re so inclined to take a day to explore, the area will not disappoint. We especially recommend a photo safari by canoe along the river, or an amble down the monkey footpath for amazing sightings. www.hotelpuertovalle.com

MUSINGS ON A JAPANESE TOILET
When I first traveled to Japan, I was ready.

I knew all about the astronomical prices (yet still experienced mild sticker shock when I actually saw them with my own eyes on everything from menus to taxi meters to lipstick). I learned the right way to get onto a subway. I practiced my business etiquette. I learned how to bow properly and even how to present my business card.

What I was NOT prepared for, however, was the toilet. Let me explain.

I’ll set up the scene here…it’s about 7:30 PM local time, which could have been 3 AM for all I knew after about 20 hours of flights, airports, taxis and mediocre food. The hotel was fantastic- swift check-in, comfy bed, whisper-quiet halls, and all the fun high-tech gadgets I could want. I could hardly wait to see the amenity selection in the loo and and get freshened up. But, I was stopped in my tracks by this ridiculously monstrous thing jutting out of the wall.

I eyed it skeptically, cautiously, and then I stopped in my tracks. What is this contraption that looks curiously like a warped cross between a regal throne, hospital chair and something right out of the set of a futuristic space film? Maybe I’m imagining this due to the lack of sleep and jet-lag. No, it’s really there. Still suspicious I went in for a closer look. The Japanese toilet was like nothing I had ever seen. Amazed but horrified, how DO I go to the bathroom on this thing?

Now, I like to consider myself an intelligent person, an ultra-savvy traveler with a keen sense of adventure, but I was nervous. What the heck do I do first? Do I sit on this thing or does it pick me up and place me on it? I decided to hold off a bit and do a further inspection. All I can say is WOW- this thing cleans itself, it somehow magically resists bacteria with some hermetically sealed self-sanitizing seat that heats your rear end too. A button to automatically open and close the lid for our germophobic friends that even goes by gender- a different lift for men than for woman. Enough of this, I thought, it’s time to test this thing out.

As I sat there, gleefully testing out all the settings much like a toddler tests out a new toy sitting upon a seat that’s too high for his or her feet to touch the ground, I noticed there was entertainment! Classical music, Japanese pop, or just white static noise…genius. I can update myself on the latest hits while covering up the sound of my flush too (because face it, it’s seriously something to be embarrassed about. Rather, wouldn’t someone on the outside rather think you were weird or nasty if you didn’t flush?) Still trying to work that one out. And what’s that right there? Choice of air freshener? Score! Let’s go with the fresh pine forest. And that button on the left? Oh good grief- a digital timer (like, do I really need to know how long I was on the toilet?) And then in the middle of this, the toilet phone rings… it’s one of my work compatriots screaming in my ear telling me he just apparently gave himself a boiling hot enema (to quote him directly). OK note to self, resist urge to press the “red” button.

I’m just about to finish and then OMG. There it is. The ass button…(pic attached). I couldn’t read the writing so I just figured I’d take a chance. All I can say is, it was one-stop-shopping- a backside massaging, water temperature-controlling, rear-end washing service complete with a blow dryer.

Never in my life… and so it went, every day, every loo, another adventure. Curious, strange, sometimes frightening but always entertaining…the Japanese toilet. And yes, I’d buy one for myself in a heartbeat if I could track one down.

MANDARIN ORIENTAL- Miami
The Mandarin Oriental, Miami is everything you’d expect it to be in this sizzling destination- chic, elegant, sophisticated, eclectic and downright fabulous…yet with a bit of an Asian flair. As if the contemporary design, high-energy restaurants, dynamic lounges and award-winning spa weren’t enough to satisfy even the most discerning of palettes, the location makes it absolutely ideal…set on a luxurious piece of Brickell Key- close enough to the action of South Beach, yet far enough away for those that don’t wish to be in the middle of the frenetic all-night pace.

What we love most here is the spa…or should we say spaaaaaaaahhhh. 15,000 square feet of sensational serenity graced with exotic textures and scents, a cocoon of sheer bliss with 17 private treatment rooms, 6 of which are VIP suites for the perfect personalized spa experience. Try something new and enroll in a Thai Massage class with a master healing trainer, who brings with her the techniques used in the Old Medicine Hospital School of Chiang Mai. No previous experience required! http://www.mandarinoriental.com/miami/useful_info/

ANA MANDARA HUE- Vietnam- The Ancient City of Hue has just been graced with a stroke of brilliant modern luxury with the opening of the exclusive Ana Mandara Hue, set directly on the serene shores of Thuan An Beach just a few minutes from the center of this most historic enclave of Vietnam...the oldest imperial city along the legendary Perfume River that contains the tombs of the Nguyen kings.

The Ana Mandara is a work of art, boasting the largest villas in the area, created in a variety of styles and decor, complete with the utmost modern facilities. And what’s more, they feature some incredibly unique experiences such as private rice paddy dinners, beach BBQ’s, and cruises through the local fish farms that truly get you woven into the fabric of this mysterious and mystically beautiful country.

As you’d probably expect, this experience wouldn’t be complete without Zen-like spa rituals and the hotel’s on-property spa menu is entirely inspired by Ayurvedic concepts and Asiatic rituals that help recuperate energies as well as relax the mind and spirit. www.hotelcollectionindochine.com

LA VAQUITA ECHA- Maipo Valley, Chile
We think we ate half a cow. Or at least that was what was presented to us at our table atop a small, still-smoldering portable grill about 15 minutes after we had ordered something akin to a mixed grill at La Vaquita Echa, a small country farmhouse-style restaurant in the Chilean winelands. The Maipo Valley is perhaps one of the most well-known in the region, an easy day trip from Santiago, and also where the famed Concha Y Toro winery calls home.

The place is adorable, adorned with all sorts of handicrafts and positively full of folklore. Though welcome signs in multiple languages were strewn across the walls, giving us an "oh no, we just walked into a tourist trap" vibe, the hospitality right from the outset made us feel as though we were walking into someone's private home.

The food is incredibly fresh, but don't be fooled by the sides and the starters- the money is defintiely in the meat here. We ordered a mixed platter, and mixed indeed it was. Enough meat to topple the table including Waygu beef which was more delicious than we could have imagined. As if the food wasn't good enough, the waiters breaking into song, following the folk dancers and guitarist as they wove in and out of the tables was an absolute show. It made everyone smile, and certainly made it easier to linger a bit longer over another bottle of (very affordable) Carmenere.

It's not so much a secret find. We weren't terribly surprised to see how many day tours include lunch at La Vaquita Echa, and we usually try to stay away from these types of places. But, the food, the fun and the charm far outweigh any touristy factor here. Definitely go, and definitely wear your elastic-waistband pants. http://www.lavaquitaecha.cl/

TIVOLI ECORESORT PRAIA DO FORTE- Bahia, Brazil
We have to admit, we’ve got a soft spot for properties that go above and beyond to preserve their local surroundings by employing unique and sustainable practices. The Tivoli Ecoresort Praia Do Forte truly believes in “Enjoying without destroying” and by drawing upon the natural resources of the area, while working hard to integrate the local community to help improve their quality of life, they’ve created something that’s far more amazing than the stunning resort and surroundings themselves.
As far as the luxe eco-tourism aspect, they’ve got that down pat. This is a 5-star haven built in harmony with nature and the biodiversity of the area in mind, rooms are simple yet elegant, with an exclusive Thalassotherapy spa for holistic health and well being, and a comprehensive activities offering for adults and children alike including a variety of eco-tours to draw guests into the heart of the region for a wealth of new experiences. Beyond the hotel itself, the team is involved in a myriad of local programs designed to improve and protect the local environment, education initiatives and the culture. Everything from adult literacy to child tutoring, to building their workforce with local residents are addressed and all work towards helping the community achieve a better life.
What’s brilliant about Bahia? Basically everything- aside from being blessed with gorgeous beaches, it’s surrounded by ecological sanctuaries bursting with brilliant colors and all sorts of flora you’ve never seen and are unlikely to see again, and animal conservation projects you can visit that are focused on the protection of marinelife as well. Perhaps the most charming and unforgettable area and a must-see when in the area is the quaint fishing village that surrounds the resort. Believed to be full of magic, it’s a small town of just under 2000 inhabitants whose beautiful, simple lifestyles haven’t changed in decades, where people sit outside in the evenings to watch the sun set and the moon rise, and traditional festivals and religious celebrations are a way of life. They put their money where their mouth is…well done, and so worth a visit. www.tivolihotels.com

ISLAND HIDEAWAY AT DHONAKULHI SPA RESORT & MARINA- Maldives
In an archipelago like the Maldives, with 1196 islands in 26 natural Atolls, one surely should be able to find a tiny little hideaway of one’s own, shouldn’t they? The Island Hideaway certainly agrees, and has created a luxury boutique resort on a privately-owned, uninhabited virgin island that guests can call all their own. It’s so remote that not only a 45-minute hopper flight from Male does the trick, for, after you land, a speedboat awaits for the remaining 20 minutes of the journey. You have to really want to get here, but when you do, you’ll understand.

The entire island is your own private domain here, surrounded by a shallow waist-deep lagoon with some of the most crystal-clear waters you’ll ever see. Here, nature blends with luxury and privacy…rooms evoke a rustic charm with their custom made handcrafted furniture and magical little architectural touches and colors designed to overwhelm the senses, all purposely set quite far from one another delivering private havens of serenity and peace. If all of that relaxation in the room isn’t enough, don’t fret- there’s a signature Mandara Spa on property, and you know what that means- pure spa luxury in every way possible. Ultra-romantic dining options, butler service, and one of the world’s most stunning beaches complete this circle of absolute perfection. Far, far away… but far from forgettable…

EXPLORATEUR EXCLUSIVE- Complimentary one category room upgrade, which you can combine with their fantastic free night offers (4 for 3, 6 for 4, 7 for 5!) Valid for travel through 21 Dec 2010, and 15 Jan – 30 Apr 2011. Click HERE For more information and as always, be sure & tell ‘em The Explorateur sent you!

PESTANA BAZARUTO LODGE- Mozambique
You may think you know beaches, but something different comes over you after you experience one in Mozambique. Perhaps it’s the feeling that the miles upon miles of untouched beaches evoke, making you feel like an accomplished explorer with every step you take as you pretend to stake claim to so much that looks so undiscovered. Perhaps it’s the easy, lazy lifestyle that does it, or just the intoxicating beauty.

One of the best places to take this all in is the Pestana Bazaruto Lodge. 40 charming bungalows…some beachside, some in the midst of a luxurious tropical garden, and all decorated with charm and brightly-colored ethnic island style. Days begin here with incredible sunrises, move to watersports or beach indulgences, and round up with platters full of gorgeous, freshly caught seafood served while dining in the open air to the soft sounds of African drums and rhythms.

Why Mozambique?
There are parts of this intriguing country that are among the most visually stunning in all of Africa. It sits contently off the mass tourist radar and quietly guards some incredible treasures like some of the world’s most spectacular beaches, world-class diving, fishing, cultural experiences, handicrafts and more. Bazaruto Island, where the lodge is located, is part of an archipelago that’s been designated as a national park, sustaining a diverse ecosystem across its relatively unexplored wetlands, thick forests, and turquoise waters.

Mozambique is located on the southeast tip of Africa. Portuguese is the official language, though English is spoken in the more touristic areas. It’s capital, Maputo, is serviced frequently by South African Airways with easy connections from Johannesburg and then onto Vilanculos (the airport to use when traveling to Bazaruto), making it an ideal side trip option.

EXPLORATEUR EXCLUSIVE- Special savings on 4 night packages at both Inhaca Lodge, and Bazaruto Lodge including meals and select watersports activities and welcome drink on arrival. Click HERE for more information and as always, be sure & tell ‘em The Explorateur sent you!

PAPUA NEW GUINEA TRIBAL JOURNEY- Baobab Expeditions
Years and years ago, a then-mini-Explorateur sat in front of an Apple II-E computer, apprehending Carmen Sandiego in a faraway place called Port Moresby. It was at that moment when the fascination with Papua New Guinea began. Where is this land, known as one of the last great frontiers on the planet? This intriguing place of diversity, with over 850 indigenous languages, complex blended history, and miles upon miles of undiscovered terrain… if you’ve ever wanted to know, now’s the time to find out.

Baobab Expeditions now offers visitors an opportunity to discover the culture of the Bainings and the Tolais tribes, snorkel in the waters of the Duke of York Islands, and camp in the shadows of the active Tavurvur Volcano in one complete tribal journey exploration package that includes just about everything. You’ll sleep in jungle camps, trek through rustic villages, experience the exciting cultural traditions, feel the powerful emotions of tribal singing and dancing, and dine on authentic local fare throughout the jaunt.

Very few people in this world understand how to travel through this unexplored land, we recommend to stick with the experts in this case. Get preppin’ for Papua New Guinea.

LOST IGUANA RESORT & SPA- Costa Rica
There are hundreds of ways to experience Costa Rica, but we find being smack dab in the middle of a rainforest, and right on the side of a lava-flowing volcano is certainly one of the most exciting (and let’s face it, pretty cool too).

And since we’re on the subject of cool- how about a double pool with waterfall and hot pool just above it, eclectic rooms infused with locally-designed touches, and even a “Madman’s Maze” made from hibiscus with enough twists and turns to make you crazy. At Lost Iguana Resort & Spa, when you’re not busy staring in amazement at nature’s best display of fireworks from your private balcony, you’ll be kept blissfully busy with hot springs, nature trail explorations, moments of pure relaxation at private hot springs, and incredible wildlife sightings.

Something not to be missed here is their Balinese-style Golden Gecko Spa. Each romantic thatched bungalow has its own fireplace, and incidentally, they’re the only ones in Costa Rica to use YonKa products, masterful blends of all natural extracts designed to soothe, revive and rejuvenate skin. Come on, you know you’re craving some Costa Rica… http://www.lostiguanaresort.com/
